Sites to be allotted in phases
Finally there is some action on the Arkavathi layout front,
the High court has upheld the Bangalore Development Authority’s
land acquisition process and has set the ball rolling for
allotment process, which means 20,000 applicants who were
short listed for site allotment will be getting the possession
of their sites soon.
It may be recalled here that the allotment of sites in the
layout, termed as one of the biggest initiative of the BDA,
ran into rough whether after nearly 700 petitions were filed
in the court objecting the authority’s land acquisition
process.
The BDA is taking up the process of allotment in phases.
The High Court in its judgment dated November 25, 2005 has
upheld the acquisition of the lands for the formation of layout
subject to grant of alternate sites to those site owners whose
sites have been acquired for the formation of the layout with
a number of conditions. The eligible 20,000 applicants will
be allotted sites, in a phased manner. Intimation of allotment
will be sent by BDA purely based on seniority cum merit. Allottees
have to pay both initial deposit amount and sital value within
the prescribed time limits.
Works under different packages being carried out and been
completed in the next few months. Since nearly 995 acres of
litigated land will be available to the authority only after
about 90 days time lapse, allotment letters will be issued
as and when plots become available.
