Metro alignment sorted out
Tumkur Road Express Way
The elevated-cum-surface expressway on Tumkur Road has taken off and could bring relied to those working and living in Peenya and Jalahalli in two years. An official with the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) said the project will be implemented by Nagarjuna Construction and the issues related to the metro rail alignment have been sorted out.
The official said that work related to shifting of electric and water lines and widening of a bridge is currently under way. ”By the first week of January, we expect the expressway work to begin in full swing, “he said. The expressway, to carry tool charges, will start from near the Ring Road junction on Tumkur Road and end at Nelamangala, a stretch of 19.5km. The elevated portion of about 4.5km will start near the Ring Road junction. The project ran into delays on account of the state Government rising concerns abut the expressway interfering with the alignment of the Metro Rail. It has now been decided that the Metro will run along the right side of the expressway.
